On Strike

Canada Post went on strike, as did everyone at the Canadian ports. Such perfect timing. Now you can look forward to extra stress during your holidays! If you do any online shopping, that is. Or if you mail Christmas cards.

This week I've been wishing to go on strike. This mama has a baby that is teething, which means sleep is dear. Mama has a head cold that seems firmly lodged in place, despite taking everything that almost always knocks it flat. I'm convinced the lack of sleep is propping it up. If I'd go on strike as a mama, I'd be asking for more hours of sleep.
Or maybe I should go on strike as a small business owner. You know, stand beside my shelves of fabric with a sign. I'm not sure what exactly it would say though... "Less hours, more pay" is hard to apply in this case. Maybe something like "Cut your own fabric, pay more per meter" would be better.
After mulling over the benefits of me going on strike, I concluded it would be much more stress than it is worth. Mama me would be behind on work for weeks, have grumpy babies and a growling husband. Small business owner me would end up with a store full of inventory, no customers, and a bank account as dry as my Christmas cactus. I sure hope Canada Post has success, although the dear ladies at my post office don't seem real thrilled at being on strike. I can't imagine it's very fulfilling.
If you have orders that you are worried about shipping, don't fret! I've got you covered! There's many other options for shipping. Unless you have a PO Box. Then you might be up a creek, but even that can be worked around most times. Pre-order fabric is due in a week, along with a delightful collection of Christmas prints for the shelves. Thankfully, none of my shipments are coming through Canada Post or the Canadian ports. As long as I don't go on strike, your fabric should arrive in plenty of time for Christmas. 😉
