Fabric Types and Descriptions

Below is a list of sublimation fabrics and descriptions.

Knit fabrics:

Liverpool - we print on a lightweight Liverpool. It has the same body and sews up like every other Liverpool, but it is smoother to the touch and does not feel as bulky. Printing dark prints that do not have much pattern in them on this fabric will result in a slightly shiny effect. Dark backgrounds with not much design are not recommended as they can appear old faster. Liverpool is a good choice if you like a fabric with something to it. This is a soft-white base fabric. Colours will be close to exact as the digital file.

Swiss Dot - this is a 100% Polyesterknit swiss dot. It is much like your regular Poly/Rayon/Spandex blend, but a little lighter weight and more cool to the touch. If you do a print with a dark background, you can end up with white spots where the dots fold over during printing. The dots have potential to get a little fuzzy after wear. Washing inside out helps with this, but it is simply part of having swiss dots. It will reach a fuzziness level and not really get any worse than that. Unlike the other typical swiss dot, this one is a bright white and prints clear bold colours.

Narrow Rib knit - this is a finer rib knit, smooth feel, nice stretch and body. 95% Polyester,  5% Spandex. It wears well, but if you print a dark background on it, it will show through white when stretched. This one is a soft white, so colours will print almost exact.

Polyester rib - a fine rib knit, with a softer feel. This one is a narrower fabric, good body and stretch, holds its colour well. 100% Polyester. A soft white sublimation fabric.

DBP 250gsm - a slightly heavier DBP fabric than most stores carry. It is a soft stretchy fabric. Some ccompare it to a t-shirt. This one is a heavier weight so it does not cling as much as the lighter weight versions. This one does not get fuzzy or bally, almost any print looks beautiful on here and it wears well. If printing a dark print on this fabric, remember that if you stretch the fabric, you will see white. Bright white fabric, colours are bolder and crisper.

Crushed velvet - talk about classy! Choose this one for dressy winter fabric! Dark backgrounds don't work the greatest, but lighter ones or dark designs look stunning on this fabric. Creamy white

Seersucker Knit- looks like seersucker, breathes like seersucker, but has a bit of stretch to it. Soft white, colours print almost exact.

Woven fabrics:

100% Polyester, smooth feeling - your simple, well known Polyester fabric. Good for any type of print or design, lasts half of forever and drapes nicely. Bright white, colours will be bold.

100% Polyester, Moss crepe - a very dressy Polyester. Do not use for a dress that will get a lot of wear and tear, as this one can snag. Works beautifully for weddings. Bright white, colours will be sharp and bold.

Polycotton - 80% Polyester,  20% Cotton. Wears like any other polycotton fabric! Soft white, colours print almost exactly as shown.

Textured 98% Poly, 2% Spandex - we have a variety of fabrics like this, simply with different textures. These fabrics have very little stretch to them, and wear well. They are a nice dress weight for year round wear. They sew up beautifully and please knit and woven lovers alike. Soft white, colours print almost exactly as shown.

Airflow Poly fabrics, smooth or dotted - these fabrics are great for spring and summer wear! The dotted ones will collect a few fuzziness on the dots and you will want to serge the fabric if you want it to last a long time. Creamy white, colours can be more muted.

Cotton muslin - soft airy fabric that works well for baby blankets/clothes. Creamy white, 100% cotton
